"Back Room Boys" Billboards Not Going Up. For Now...
The billboards slated to go up around town that would have spoofed County Mayor Claude Ramsey and the five County Commission members who recently voted for a 26-cent property tax increase are not going up. For now.
Evidently, the billboard company reneged on posting the billboards due to content. The folks who hatched the idea for the billboards -- including Tim Price, John Wolfe, and Rhonda Thurman -- have reportedly vowed to fight the decision.
More information should be available later this afternoon.

Bye. Ward. Now.
A letter worthy of note from Spring City's Dianne Beha in today's TFP...
Please help me to understand how state Sen. Ward Crutchfield can admit to an illegal act while "employed" by the people of Tennessee and be able to choose when he is ready to leave office!Any person employed by a private firm would be escorted out of the building by security immediately, with no questions asked.
It is time that our elected officials began to be treated like any ordinary citizen and not be able to manipulate the circumstances surrounding their acts. We as a people are being subjected to all this nonsense daily, and unfortunately we are doing nothing about it.
But then again, what can we do but wait until election day, aanh hope that we don't get too bombarded by the results of this egomaniacal behavior of our present elected officials.
Wanna get mad really fast? Ask yourself, "How many times did Mr. Crutchfield -- and others -- do this sort of thing and get away with it?"
Once you've lost the public's trust. Nothing else you've done really matters, does it?

Times Free Press "Boomers" Series: Officially Ridiculous
By all accounts, TFP reporter Cliff Hightower is a great and talented guy. His talents, however, are being thoroughly wasted on completely pointless tripe such as: "Boomers the right age for roles in Scopes play."
They have officially run out of ideas.
Not to worry, though. We can help. We've already done this once, but we'd like to offer another list of possible TFP "Boomers" story topics.
1. Left-handed boomers do a lot of things with their left hands.
2. Many boomers likely to have graduated high school a few decades ago.
3. Boomers eat food.
4. Boomers remember things that happened before the birth of those who are much younger than boomers.
5. Boomers more wrinkled than younger people.
6. Boomers legally able to buy alcohol.
7. Boomers getting closer to death with each passing day.
8. Boomers go to the bathroom every day.
9. Boomers mathematically old enough to be grandparents.
10. Boomers' intelligence being insulted by insipid boomers stories in daily paper.
I mean... I just... I... Uh... Just... Uh... I...

Regularly-Scheduled "We Have Nothing to Do with WorstMayorEver.com and Are Not Billy Blades" Disclaimer
Though we've often looked at it with interest over the last couple of years, for the 17,689th time, we have nothing to do with that blog and do not know the true identity of Billy Blades. (I suppose we'd pay money to find out who it is, though.)
Otherwise insightful folks (and some dumb ones) who are floating theories that it's us are plumb wrong.
Have a nice day.

Goodbye, Andrew Stegall
Monday was the last day at The Pulse for our much-loved advertising director, Andrew Stegall, who's taken a job selling ads to and for lawyers in Beantown. We're going to miss him.
Andrew wrote a lengthy goodbye note in this week's issue.
