Linkucopious: Memorial Day, 2007

Agents search Sam Parker's house. Again. And can somebody please help him get his Movie Gallery and Sam's cards back?

So, how were lives saved before cell phones? In related news, hooray for history!

Remember

listpic4.22.jpg

Number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq last week: 34

Number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq in May: 103

Number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq in April: 104

Number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq since the start of the war: 3,455

(Numbers as of May 27, 2007. Courtesy of iCasualties.org.)

The List is (usually) satire.
Not this week.

Please salute Travis Haslip.

George Parker is leaving his post at the Tivoli and Memorial.

So, if the language was incorrect is the sentiment still correct? It almost doesn't matter, as Ron's likely got the complex half built by now.

My wife "got caught in a mess and imploded," Sam Parker said, possibly forebodingly. Parker talked with Fox 5 in Atlanta on the condition that the piece not be shown in Chattanooga. Damn Internet...

Phil has an education solution. Joe was there and will write about it later.

Nightfall starts this Friday. Pins are, as always, free. And nonexistent. (Chris Thile kicks off the bluegrasstivities.)

Now serving time for the death of her son, Erica Goodner talks to WRBC's Will Carr tonight at 6.

Props to Luther. (Who else deserves a slot in the hall?)

In times like these, don't forget your GasBuddy.

Best wishes to Lee and Herman.

Killer Show Tonight

A friendly reminder...

(The California Guitar Trio @ Waffle House. Chattanooga. 2005.)

The fantabulous California Guitar Trio are playing TONIGHT at Rhythm and Brews.

Tape American Idol and head on down to witness one of the best shows you're likely to see this -- or any -- year.

(Note: Word has it that they've worked up a cover of Pink Floyd's "Echoes.")

An Interview with Arianna Huffington in Today's Pulse

Read Janis Hashe's interview here:

"I don’t accept the often-bandied-about premise that misinformation is the purview of blogs. It’s disingenuous to have a discussion about blogger misinformation when the mainstream media have been responsible for so much more significant and influential misinformation. All we have to do is look at how much false information in the run up to the war was disseminated not by bloggers, but on the front pages of the New York Times and the Washington Post. Trust has to be earned, and I think bloggers do a very good job of policing each other (as well as holding the feet of politicians and the mainstream media to the fire). That’s why more and more people are getting their news and opinion online."

Please, Please, Please, Please Don't Leave Your Kids in Your Car

From Chattanoogan.com:

Chattanooga Fire Department First responders did a thermal imaging reading of the BMW and found the inside of the car was 142 degrees and the infant was in the vehicle for almost seven hours.
